Your life in 5 years

One of the most important questions you can ask yourself in setting priorities, is ‘What will my life look like in 5 years? Many people use WoW and other things as an escape from a life that maybe isn’t as satisfying as they’d like it to be, or maybe just hasn’t worked out the way they hoped or dreamed. What will your life be like in five years if you don’t change anything? How much closer will you be to attaining your dreams and aspirations in 5 years at the present rate? Have you hung up your hopes because life is just too hard? These are important questions to consider. Is there hope for a brighter tomorrow, or is this as good as it gets? A lot of people who play WoW, and I suspect other MMORPG’s excessively, confess that they got really into the games when things in life weren’t going so well. Escapism isn’t a solution to life’s problems, it’s merely procrastination. And just like washing dishes, the longer you wait the harder you have to scrub. If you put off dealing with life it often just gets harder to deal with later.

There’s nothing wrong with life getting you down, it happens to everyone. But there is a problem with not getting back up. People have struggled through some miserable circumstances; even now some people are starving to death while others struggle with playing video games too much. It’s still a legitimate problem, but its pretty hard to think ‘I’ve got it so bad’ while still having a house/computer/internet and $15/month for a game. So yeah, we think you can suck it up and improve your situation. Odds are that your situation isn’t as bad as you think it is, and also that others have gone through similar if not horribly worse things. So talk it out, find some support, and find some people that will kick your butt when you need it.
